Patrol Deputy Openings

Patrol Deputy, Lateral

(Experienced)

We’re looking for experienced, highly motivated, self-directed candidates with strong communication and interpersonal skills for Patrol Deputy (Lateral, Experienced).

This recruitment is for experienced law-enforcement professionals only. It’s open to applicants who are currently or have been certified as a basic police officer within the last five (5) years and have completed at least eighteen (18) months of law-enforcement experience as a uniformed civilian peace officer. Oregon Department of Standards and Training (DPSST) maintains authority to determine acceptable lateral transfer of out of state certification to Oregon.

You must pass the Frontline exam (unless you’re DPSST-certified or possess a bachelor’s degree or higher) as well as a background investigation, post-offer pre-employment drug test, and physical and psychological exams.

  • Pay & Benefits:

    Annual Pay Range:  $78,666.65 - $100,738.16
    Hourly Pay Range:   $37.82 - $48.43
    *Salary range effective July 1, 2024

    Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:

    Must be currently or have been certified as a basic police officer for at least eighteen (18) months within the last five (5) years.

    Must be at least 21 years of age by date of hire.

    Must be a United States citizen or be one within eighteen (18) months of hire.

    Must be free from criminal convictions other than minor traffic violations.

    Experience thinking clearly and performing effectively in stressful or emergency situations.

    Experience communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.

    Must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate of high school equivalency (or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution).

    Must pass the Frontline exam through National Testing Network (unless currently DPSST certified or possess a bachelor's degree or higher.

    Visual and Hearing Acuity: Must meet the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training requirements as detailed in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) 259­008­0000.

    Must be able to be certified as a Civilian Police Officer/Deputy by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training.

    Must meet the Minimum Standards for Employment as a Law Enforcement Officer as provided for in Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs) 259­008­0010.

    Experience properly utilizing police equipment and techniques, including firearms and restraining devices.

    After approximately one year of employment, successful completion of the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Academy and the CCSO Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP) Deputy Sheriff, Recruit employees are moved to the Deputy Sheriff ($37.82 - $48.43 per hour) classification.

    Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) maintains authority to determine acceptable lateral transfer of out of state certification to Oregon.

    Candidates must successfully:

    Pass REACT exam (unless currently DPSST-certified or possessing a Bachelor’s degree or higher)

Property & Evidence Specialist

Our Property & Evidence Unit has an immediate opening for a Property & Evidence Specialist.

The Property & Evidence Specialist is responsible for the receiving, preservation, release, and in some cases destruction of all items in their care.

Property & Evidence Specialists are trained in storage techniques and processing to ensure that the integrity of evidence is maintained. Detailed electronic records of transactions involving items of evidence are maintained in order to preserve the “chain of custody.”

  • PAY & BENEFITS

    Annual Pay Range:  $61,575.97 - $71,442.06

    Hourly Pay Range:   $29.60 - $34.34

Parole & Probation Openings

Parole & Probation Technician

Our Parole & Probation Division is looking to fill several vacancies for Parole & Probation Technician (classified as a Human Services Assistant).

This position will review client cases and program eligibility, conduct client interviews, monitor compliance, maintain records, write correspondence, coordinate outreach activities, and perform other support activities for the Parole & Probation Division’s various programs.

  • PAY & BENEFITS

    Annual Pay Range:  $52,203.83 - $65,833.47

    Hourly Pay Range:   $25.09 - $31.65

    Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:

    • At least two (2) years of related experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position.

    • Demonstrated ability to patiently and professionally communicate, in person, in writing, and by phone with a variety of individuals from various social and economic backgrounds.

    • Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.

    • Experience with and the ability to maintain composure in stressful situations when dealing with a variety of people.

    • Experience working collaboratively with community partners, collateral service providers and co-workers.

    • Experience using a personal computer and typical office software such as word processing and spreadsheet applications; and enter information into a database program.

    • Experience working with justice involved clients or in a treatment or corrections setting.

    • Experience working with the Oregon Department of Corrections Information System (CIS).

    • Knowledge of the principles, methods and techniques relevant to community corrections or similar programs.

    • Work experience to effectively case manage difficult people with different backgrounds and provide
      counseling and motivation to support change.

    • College-level education and/or training in criminal justice, social or behavioral sciences or a related field.

    Other Qualifications:

    • Possession of a Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) Certification is required within six (6) months of employment.

    • Possession of notary public certification is required within 3 months of employment.


Work Crew Specialist

Parole & Probation Division (Temporary, Part-Time)

Our Parole & Probation Division is currently recruiting qualified individuals to fill a Work Crew Specialist position. 

The Work Crew Specialist leads, motivates and counsels work crews, including adult clients who owe restitution and are sanctioned and/or assigned community service by a judge.

Work crews perform manual landscape maintenance tasks throughout Clackamas County. The Work Crew Specialist performs manual labor with crews and emulates good work habits and performance.

  • PAY:

    $26.30 - $33.11 Hourly

    This is a part-time and not a seasonal position. Temporary, part-time employees work less than 30 hours a week during a standard workweek of Saturday through Friday.

    Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • A minimum of one (1) year of experience performing landscape maintenance

    • This experience must include a minimum of one (1) year experience leading and/or coordinating the work of others

    • Knowledge and ability to perform preventative maintenance and repairs to small engine tools such as mowers, edgers, chainsaws and chippers

    • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, which include strenuous physical labor, exposure to adverse weather conditions and hazardous locations

    • Ability to emulate productivity, good work habits and performance and safety compliance

    • Must have the ability to safely operate a 15-passenger van

    • Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test
